Shinya Uryu

I'm a researcher in Statistics and Environmental Data Science at Tokushima University currently working on epidemiological modeling and environmental conservation. My research applies statistical methods and data science techniques to understand complex environmental and public health challenges. Much of my recent work has focused on analyzing COVID-19 impacts in Japan through innovative data sources and methods. I've collaborated with researchers from multiple institutions to study excess mortality, healthcare access patterns, and mental health effects during the pandemic using social networking data and interrupted time-series approaches. I'm also passionate about environmental conservation and have worked on projects examining coastal tourism economics using mobile phone network data, and developing tools to analyze Japanese geographic and administrative data. My expertise spans statistical modeling, spatial analysis, and the development of R packages to support environmental and epidemiological research. I aim to bridge the gap between complex data analysis and practical applications that can inform public health and environmental policy decisions.
